Back in the 80’s and 90’s, Koramangala, once known as Sollemangala, was a parched area where properties had only a few takers. The area was barely developed and was home to only a few who could not afford the then posh localities. A few clairvoyantsenior citizens who saw potential in the area being an ideal residential place seized the day and dedicated themselves to make Koramangala a desirable location to live in. With an objective to bring in the aura of peace to the place and these senior citizens formed an association called the" Swabhimana Koramangala Initative.” Their first leg in making Koramangala habitable was clearing the garbage out. Joining the team was the city mayor who took the initiative to develop parks. These parks were further maintained by the association. The initiative set in a revolution to make Koramangala greener and cleaner than ever. Push carts and garbage trucks were introduced in the area in order to maintain the tone of cleanliness in the neighbour hood. Along with the association and the authorities, every resident in Koramangala made an extra effort to rejuvenate Koramangala and give it a much needed face lift. Before you know it, Koramangala bloomed into a clean and lush-green area. With the gradual development of houses and commercial spaces, the area has gained momentum and people now perceive Koramnagala as an ideal location to settle.
